 August VLOG 2025

Dear Friends, As the summer sun continues to bless us with warmth, August invites us to listen closely—not just to the season around us, but to what’s happening within. This month, our intention is: “Adapt & Align” Honouring our bodies, our environment, and our needs in each moment.  With the heat we’ve felt this August, our practice has taken a more restorative approach: Beginning with cooling, grounding floor-based postures Allowing the body to settle, the mind to slow, and the breath to lengthen Then gradually building warmth from the inside out with gentle, mindful movement This style of practice is deeply supportive for our nervous system. By starting in stillness, we signal to the body that it is safe, allowing the “rest and digest” parasympathetic branch of our nervous system to take the lead. This slows the heart rate, eases tension, and opens the way for movement that is sustainable and nourishing—rather than depleting. Our breath is the bridge here: slow, steady inhales and long, smooth exhales tell our whole system, “You can soften now.” Yoga is not a one-size-fits-all practice. Some days call for strong, energising flows; others invite quiet stillness. By adapting to our needs—and the conditions around us—we ensure that practice is always supportive, not stressful. Consistency doesn’t mean doing the same thing every time. It means showing up for yourself and your wellbeing, in the way that’s right for you on that day. Turning up to the mat—whatever the weather, whatever the season—builds both resilience and self-trust. The more we show up, the more we create a steady anchor in our lives, something that is there for us no matter what else is going on. As the yoga teacher B.K.S. Iyengar said: “Yoga is a light, which once lit, will never dim. The better your practice, the brighter the flame.” Your practice doesn’t have to be perfect, or long, or even sweaty—it just needs you to arrive, breathe, and be present. This Month in Class We’ll continue to work with: Cooling, restorative postures to calm the body Gentle transitions to warm, mindful flows Breath techniques to balance energy and soothe the mind The skill of listening inward and adjusting practice in real time This way, every session becomes your practice, for your needs, in this moment. Thank you, as always, for sharing your time, presence, and energy on the mat with me. Whether in person or online, your commitment to yourself inspires me deeply. With warmth and gratitude Laura xx

 June VLOG 2025

Welcome to June Newsletter  Dear friends, There’s something deeply comforting in knowing that every moment offers us a fresh start. In yoga, we return again and again to the breath our constant, quiet companion because each breath is a chance to begin again. Just like life, each breath has a start, middle, and end. Inhale. Pause. Exhale. Pause. And just like that, the next one comes a new moment, a new opportunity. As Buddha so beautifully said: “Each morning we are born again. What we do today is what matters most.” This idea can be a gentle anchor, especially when life feels overwhelming. We don’t have to fix everything all at once. We just come back to now. To this breath. To this moment. Why the Breath Matters Breathing is more than just staying alive it’s how we communicate with our nervous system. When we’re stressed, our breath becomes fast and shallow, sending a message to the body to stay alert or anxious. But when we slow and steady the breath, we send the opposite message: You’re safe. You can rest. Try this breath practice to calm, find balance and reset:- Balanced Breathing - Inhale through your nose for a count of 4 Hold the breath for 4 Exhale slowly for 4 Hold empty for 4 Repeat for a few minutes. So today, maybe pause for a moment. Feel your breath. Let go. Begin again. With gratitude and love Laura xx

 February 2025 VLOG

Welcome to February VLOG / newsletter. Permission to ‘let go’ In our practice this month, we will explore movement and breath as a way to encourage release. Whether it's tightness in the body, tension in the mind, or emotions that no longer serve you, give yourself full permission to let go. Through gentle flows, supported postures, and mindful breathing, we will create space for softness, ease, and renewal. Use your time on the mat to surrender, whether that means deepening your exhales, softening your shoulders, or simply allowing yourself to be present without judgment. When we practice this release, we create more room for clarity, peace, and connection, not just in yoga but in our daily lives. Ways to Support Yourself This Month: Make time for extra rest, warm herbal teas, and nourishing foods to support your immune system. Try deep belly breathing or sighing exhales to clear stagnation and tension. Even on days when energy feels low, allow yourself to move slowly and intentionally—it can make all the difference. Take a moment to acknowledge what you’re holding onto and ask yourself if it’s time to release it. May this month bring you a sense of ease and connection. With Love Laura xx

 July VLOG 2025

Dear Friends,   As we move into the heart of summer, July invites us to slow down just a little, take stock, and reconnect with what truly nourishes us. Whether you're basking in sunshine or navigating the busyness of the season, yoga offers a chance to come back to centre—to soften, breathe, and reset.   New Saturday Morning Class – Starts 12th July!    I’m so excited to share that from Saturday 12th July, I’ll be offering a new weekly Saturday morning class at the Clevedon Community Centre—a gently energising session to start your weekend feeling refreshed, grounded, and open.   Time: 9:30 – 10:45am Location: Clevedon Community Centre FREE first session this Saturday only! Book using code: #sat12free (Just pop the code into your booking to enjoy a free taster.)   Perfect if you’ve been meaning to come back to class, want to add something new to your routine, or bring a friend along for a gentle introduction.   July’s Intention: “Root to Rise”    Just like a tree needs deep roots to grow strong and tall, we also need steadiness in our foundations—body, breath, and mind—before we can reach outward with clarity and confidence.   In class, we’ll explore:   Grounding standing postures (like Warrior II and Tree) to build stability   Pelvic awareness and core strength for inner support   Breath-led movement to create space and lightness   A chance to reflect on where in life you’d like to feel more secure, so you can expand with ease   We’ll also take moments in stillness to observe: Where am I rooted—and what helps me rise? It’s a great month to plant the seeds of sustainable habits, reconnect with your body’s rhythm, and embrace the balance of effort and ease.   Online Practice & Community Remember, the online Clevedon Yoga Space is always there when you need it—whether you're travelling, juggling work, or just prefer to practice from home. There are fresh practices and recorded classes ready to go, and you can dip in at any time that suits. Free resource for all Clevedon Yoga students.   A Gentle Reminder... Whether you're joining in person or online, for a one-off or a weekly rhythm, you are always welcome just as you are. Yoga isn’t just about being flexible and strong—it’s about showing up, listening inward, and allowing space for growth.   Thank you for being part of this little yoga community—it’s a joy to move and breathe alongside you all. With warmth & gratitude Laura xx

 March VLOG 2025

March Newsletter: Strength in Body & Mind   Dear Yogis, This month in class, we’ve been exploring strength work in yoga—not just in our bodies but in our minds too. Strength isn’t just about holding a Warrior Pose longer; it’s about building resilience, stability, and balance both on and off the mat. Why Strength Work? Bringing strength into our yoga practice helps us:   Build muscular endurance & stability  Protect our joints & prevent injury Improve posture & core engagement Cultivate inner confidence & mental focus But just as we strengthen our bodies, it’s just as important to ‘check in’ with ourselves mentally—to notice where we hold tension, where our energy is flowing, and what we need to stay grounded. Yoga teaches us that true strength comes from awareness, not just effort. As we move into spring, let’s continue to build strength with softness, finding steadiness while staying open to growth. Keep showing up, keep breathing, and keep honouring your practice. See you on the mat! With gratitude and love Laura xx

Communication, Professionalism, Quality

Laura has established a friendly atmosphere with sessions that challenge but also inspire confidence. Thoughtful, inclusive, and calm yoga practice.

Sue Iles

Laura's classes are excellent. She puts a lot of effort into her preparation, so the classes are really varied. There is always a specific focus for each session which Laura begins by explaining. There are always options for different abilities, so everyone is suitably challenged yet nobody feels inadequate. The atmosphere is very friendly. Laura is very well qualified and knowledgeable and is a teacher one feels very comfortable with. Highly recommend.
